Nicely written. I’m a tech journalist and I get loads of these requests also. I’d also suggest people to consider whether it could be also managed through a thoughtful phone call or even skype chat (remember we are used to using skype and conference calls all the time and probably find it less impersonal than you do).

I know in my experience I’m always really happy to connect likeminded people also as I know a little bit about lots of things and can often see synergy across sectors etc.
